From the “vast narratives” reading, I began to understand that there are specific and various ways that a story or narrative unfolds, reaching different complexities and deviating to different degrees. Some stories create an expansive network of plot points and characters that develop and are never undone, while other narratives see the characters return to default setting and their story starts over from that point. Cross media universes allow a narrative to spread across different realms and types of storytelling. A narrative may exist in formats that deviate from its original format, but the expanding story is still considered part of the original tale.

Q “History, although often confused with the backstory, is apart from it. It begins when the backstory ends, being the retelling of casually related events such that they form a narrative. It emerges from action and interaction, rather than being fixed as flavor text… They collate into these anecdotes (i.e story form) and so build on the backstory, to provide an ongoing, living history”
C Games follow narrative patterns the same way that films and novels do. Some guide the player through the game and some allow the player to build a narrative that is not predetermined.
Q I’m not sure that I am understanding “Wendy Worlds” and the differences they have from “Alice Worlds.” What are some examples of games that feature “Wendy Worlds?”
